Conferences and Meetings Indie-Queer Festival Announces Dates, Seeks to Diversify Performance Roster and Organization

April 2, 2007 -- Building on the anticipated energy and volume of the United States Social Forum (USSF), and designed to complement the progressive workshops and forums of the USSF, MondoHomo Dirty South is proud to announce the dates of their inaugural festival. MondoHomo Dirty South is slated for June 27 through July 1, 2007 in Atlanta, GA at multiple in-town venues.

According to festival Organizer Kiki Carr, "MondoHomo promises to be the most OUTRAGEOUS Queer gathering ever to take over Atlanta!"

The purpose of the festival is to create a safe and fun Queer-centric party atmosphere for USSF participants, Southern locals, and indie Queers nationwide. MondoHomo Dirty South is a festival of indie and DIY bands, DJs, drag and burlesque performance, craft and art shows, spoken word, dance parties, and community building that celebrates the Queer contribution to arts, culture, and justice.

MondoHomo Dirty South coming together with the help of co-organizers, volunteers, partner organizations, and performers representing the many intersecting identities and expressions present in the South, at USSF, and in the queer universe, including ethnicity, gender, ability, age, and more.

Additionally, particular emphasis is being placed upon balancing the predominantly punk and garage-rock roster with homohop, dance, and other alternative music styles. All interested individuals, collectives, artists, and organizations are invited to contact festival Outreach Coordinator Rachael Spiewak at (404) 392-4597, or at rachael@sopobikes.org.
