Re: IS TRANS THE NEW PUNCHLINE?

(Score: 1)

There seems a great deal of interest these days in the transsexual community while we debate amongst ourselves what is acceptable to define who we are. Even the language for describing us is under attack. The gender spectrum cannot be divided into specific categories with a suitable terminology for everyone. As the human race evolves into a blend with no need for definition of race, gender, sexual preference, nationality, etc.,etc. we should beware of the growing pains. Satire takes aim at the unknown and misunderstood with the inevitable consequence of feelings hurt. The "Simpsons" and South Park" are placing us in full view by using "in your face" cartoon characters. Yes, it hurts those of us paying the price for recognition of "the condition our condition is in". Maintaining our sense of humour while being the brunt of the joke challenges us to stay the course. The communication revolution will not wait for our tears to dry and has provided the means to educate through our reaction and behaviour in the real world. Being trans is not funny to me so when offended I use the off switch and proceed with setting a true example of who I really am. There are still many who do not even realize we exist, that is rapidly changing.
Attacking what makes me uncomfortable and endlessly debating wastes time.

Shall we lead instead of following those choosing exclusionary tactics?
