Has anyone ever accused you of not really being a
man? Or not really being a woman? From living without gender to thwarting the gender police, from uncoupling the sex/gender puzzle to finding out what you really think about yourself and other people, this is Kate Bornstein's guide to exploring the big G. Transgendered writer and performer, author of Gender Outlaw, and reluctant authority on living outside rules (all kinds of them), Kate takes you on a class trip through the wilds of gender. So welcome to your gender workbook. Kate Bornstein wrote it, and Diane DiMassa drew the pictures, but it's your workbook. So put your thinking caps on, get your pencils ready, and please don't read your neighbor's work. You'd only be cheating yourself. |

I read this book about a year ago, and it was comforting to learn to understand gender the way Kate sees it. I loved this book, and wish I could marry Kate.

God for a grin per page. To Kate's "standards" I was already a gender freak before starting out, but it still is a good exercise :o)

I am reading it now. It has got me thinking about my gender in ways I would not have. good book.

I was a gender freak before reading it too, but this book goes far beyond gender and should be read by everybody! Very unsettling in a very constructive way. Scary, revealing, sensible, irritating, reassuring and much else besides. Read it, read it, read it.

Interesting and extremely radical. Homosexuality is a sin and no book can try to disprove that.
